The Bride and Groom
The Groom:
Matthew is my everything. He is my go-to person and the one that I would chose to do anything with. From needing some solid advise to doing something crazy with. He has this sense of adventure and spontaneity while being grounded, level headed and a provider. He loves the outdoors just like me. He makes moments that others may deem insignificant the best and most memorable ones. I fell in love with the way he is able to create magical moments - the nickname he gives to the visiting squirrel or excitement to explore a place we haven’t been to. Matthew is a true unique person and an individual and I love that. I love that he dances, can cook and that he can fix anything. I love that he knows more about sewing than me and bakes the best crunchies. I love his wonderful kind family and how welcoming they have been. I love that Matthew and I laugh. We can keep each other effortlessly entertained and never get bored of each other. I really am one lucky girl.

The Bride:
Jessica is my gorgeous girl. Jessica clearly is the one; she fosters my love and joy for life and all that makes me 'tick', she gives me a reason to be the best that I can be. From early on, we found that we loved the same activities, the same things and have the same love for the world around us.
Jessica is fun, exciting and sharp witted. She keeps me on my toes and we are always finding ourselves heading off on another adventure, our latest adventure being our recent relocation to Perth, Australia. I couldn't have asked for a better person to share in the adventure of life with; Jessica is loyal, kind and loving while being determined, driven and knows what she wants, I sure am lucky that I am what she wants!

The Proposal
written by Jess
It was Christmas morning and my entire family was over doing our traditional gift opening session. The family included my parents, grandmother, both sisters (Helen and Bronwyn), Chris and Matthew. We were happily ripping into and admiring our gifts. I remember thinking Matthew didn’t seem very interested in his gifts and was acting a bit strange as he was constantly wiping his hands on his jeans and looking somewhat distracted. I thought maybe he was disappointed with his Christmas gifts. Nearing the end, Bronwyn handed me a card with Matthew's handwriting displaying my name on the front of the envelope. Matthew then told me to read the card aloud. It was a normal-looking Christmas card with a green lit up tree on the front. All eyes were on me as I started to read aloud. The words inside were so carefully and beautifully written it took my breath away. It was a special and personal card where Matthew was detailing his love for me and our wonderful relationship. Having to read the card aloud felt so strange but I was soon absorbed in the moment. As I said the last few words on the card, I looked up and there was Matthew on bended knee holding up the most gorgeous ring and asked the best question I have ever been asked "Jessica, will you marry me?" I was so surprised and shocked and didn’t believe that it was happening. I think I responded with "Thank you" as it was the only words that came to mind after receiving gifts on Christmas Day (Perseveration as my fellow Speech Therapists would label it as!). I managed to say "yes" and that moment made it the best day ever. Matthew had such a unique and personal proposal that meant the world to me. The ring was designed by Matthew and I don’t know how he managed to do it from Australia with the designers based in Cape Town, let alone getting it to Australia...all without me knowing a thing! The ring is the perfect balance of uniqueness and beauty while representing Matthew and my passion for the outdoors and water. I fully appreciate the love, creativity and skilled-design that Matthew put into my ring, not to mention the "under-the-radar" smuggling of the ring into Australia. I am such a special girl and so happy to have found my chap :)
